Medical Center in Mechanicsville, VA is seeking a Board Certified Gastroenterologist for high-priority locum coverage. The assignment is 24-hour on-call hospital coverage with outpatient and inpatient responsibilities. ERCP is required and EUS is preferred. Coverage is needed for specific open dates due to lack of provider availability.
Job Responsibilities
• Perform inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology consultations
• Perform procedures including EGD, Colonoscopy, ERCP, Liver Biopsy, Sigmoidoscopy, Small Bowel Biopsy
• Esophageal Dilatation & Manometry (including interpretation)
• Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)
• PEG placement and management
• Manage Sengstaken/Blakemore Tube insertion
• Interpret diagnostic imaging and lab results
• Utilize Epic EMR for documentation
• Average 8 procedures per week
Qualifications
• Board Certified in Gastroenterology – REQUIRED
• Active Virginia medical license – REQUIRED
• ERCP – REQUIRED
• EUS – Preferred
• Clean malpractice history – REQUIRED
• Minimum $2.6M malpractice coverage (Virginia requirement)
• Self-Query NPDB report (dated within 30 days) – REQUIRED
• Flu shot – REQUIRED
• COVID vaccine – Highly Preferred
Working Hours
• Weekend & holiday coverage required

6/29 – 7/3 (Mon 7:00 AM – Fri 7:00 AM)
12/21 – 12/25 (Mon 7:00 AM – Fri 7:00 AM)
