Job description
Saint Peter's University Hospital, Inc. seeks a Gastroenterologist for its New Brunswick, NJ locations.
Job Responsibilities
- Independently diagnose and treat a wide range of disorders affecting the gastrointestinal system, including conditions of the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon, pancreas, liver, and biliary tract.
- Evaluate patients and develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings.
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, such as colonoscopies, sigmoidoscopies, esophagogastroduodenoscopies (EGDs), duodenoscopies, and gastroscopies.
- Prescribe medications and recommend dietary and lifestyle modifications based on each patient's condition.
- Refer patients to dietitians and other specialists as necessary. Perform minor surgical procedures when indicated. Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests and imaging studies.
- Participate in clinical research to advance gastrointestinal medicine and contribute to the development of best practices.
- Maintain board certification and licensure through ongoing participation in continuing medical education (CME) programs, workshops, and conferences.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to manage patients with chronic and complex gastrointestinal conditions.
- Provide follow-up care, monitor treatment outcomes, and adjust care plans as needed. Mentor medical residents and fellows in the provision of patient care.
- Provide on-call weekend coverage every 6 weeks.
Qualifications
- Completion of an ACGME- or AOA-accredited Internal Medicine residency required
- Completion of an ACGME- or AOA-accredited Gastroenterology fellowship required
- Must hold an active New Jersey Medical License
