This facility is part of a comprehensive healthcare system serving the Humboldt County region. The medical center provides essential specialized care to the local community with a focus on gastroenterology services. The position also includes work at St. Joseph Hospital in nearby Eureka, creating a diverse practice environment across multiple locations.

Opportunity:
Physician - Internal Medicine - Gastroenterology

Job Details:
• Locum tenens gastroenterology position starting May 2026 with ongoing needs
• Schedule includes weekday clinic (7:30-3:30pm at St. Joseph or 7:40-3:40pm at Redwood) followed by night call
• Weekend call coverage is 24 hours
• Office days from 8am-5pm with an hour lunch
• Average of 12-16 patient encounters per shift
• Procedures typically take 30-60 minutes
• ERCP skills required (diagnostic and therapeutic)
• Upper GI endoscopy with biopsy, foreign body removal, and fulguration of bleeder required
• PEG (percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy) skills required
• Esophageal dilatation/manometry and interpretation required
• Lower GI endoscopy including flexible sigmoidoscopy required
• Colonoscopy with biopsy and polyp excision required
• Liver biopsy required
• Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) preferred
• Insertion/management of Sengstaken/Blakemore tube preferred
• Must have active CA license and DEA
• Fluoroscopy certification required (temporary licenses considered)
• Board Certified or Board Eligible within 5 years of residency
• BLS certification required
• Credentialing timeframe 90-120 days
• Guaranteed 8 hours per day with overtime applying after 9 hours (preapproval required)
• Housing stipend of $3500 per month provided
