Job description
Mercy Medical Center is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Gastroenterologist to provide inpatient coverage starting mid-December 2025. This long-term locum tenens opportunity will support the team during a retirement transition while the facility conducts a permanent search.
Assignment Details:

Practice Setting: Inpatient

Call Schedule: 1:4 rotation (Friday 4 PM – Friday 4 PM); includes floor, ED, ICU, emergent consults, and endoscopies as needed

Start Date: Mid to late December 2025

Duration: Until permanent placement is secured

Average Hospital Census: 4–12 patients per day

Group Size: 4 physicians

EMR: Epic

Onsite Resources: Lab and X-ray available

Procedures:

Required: Esophageal Dilatation/Manometry, Small Bowel Biopsy, Lower GI Endoscopy, Sigmoidoscopy, Colonoscopy, Liver Biopsy

Upper GI Endoscopy (required types):

Diagnostic & Therapeutic

With Biopsy

With Foreign Body Removal

With Fulguration of Bleeder (Cautery/Laser)

With Injection or Banding of Varices

With PEG (Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy)

EUS/ERCP: Not required (ERCP is a “nice to have”)

Requirements:

Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology (BC preferred)

Active Massachusetts license [REQUIRED]

BLS certification [REQUIRED]

ERCP certification [Preferred, not required]
