CHI St. Luke’s Health Memorial in Lufkin, Texas, is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Gastroenterologist with ERCP capability for inpatient-only locum coverage. This is a great opportunity to support a well-equipped facility with strong endoscopy nursing staff and anesthesia backup.
Assignment Overview

Setting: Inpatient only (no outpatient clinic)

Location: St. Luke’s Health Memorial – 1201 W Frank Ave, Lufkin, TX 75904

Start Date: November 2025 (emergency credentialing available for clean files)

Schedule: Fill gaps in existing coverage; see dates below

FTE: 1.0

Expected Census: Up to 10 patients per day, plus procedures as indicated

Support Staff: Endoscopy-trained GI nurses, Anesthesiology available

EMR: Paragon (transitioning to Epic later in 2026)

Clinical Details

Procedures: Standard GI procedures (EGD, colonoscopy) plus ERCP (required)

Typical Cases: GI bleed, abdominal pain, SBO, food bolus, ulcerations, gastritis, carcinoma diagnosis (no treatment)

Admissions: Managed by hospitalists

Sedation: Conscious sedation preferred; anesthesia available
Candidate Requirements

Board Certified/Board Eligible in Gastroenterology – Required

ERCP Experience – Required

Active Texas Medical License – Required

ACLS Certification – Required
-
Clean malpractice and disciplinary history – Highly preferred

Availability: Please indicate how many weeks per month you can cover, OR- what open rotations would work for you.
