Job description
The John J. Pershing VA Medical Center is seeking a Physician (Gastroenterologist) to practice in our Specialty Care Service.

Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Recruitment Incentive may be offered to a highly qualified applicant.
Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment): Repayment of student loans over a 5-year period, up to $200,000EDRP Authorized.
Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases

Job Responsibilities
Clinical duties include diagnosing, treating and managing patients referred for management of GI disorders including liver disease, Hepatitis C, and liver transplants based on standard and customary methods and techniques in both the outpatient and inpatient setting
Procedural duties include performing diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower endoscopy procedures, PEG placement, esophageal dilation
Responsible for administration and management of moderate/conscious sedation used during procedures.
Responsible for completing patient encounters, inpatient and outpatient consults, notes, and correctly coding visits in accordance with coding guidelines.
Demonstrates interpersonal skills that enhance the effectiveness and accomplishments of the service.
Demonstrates verbal and written communication skills that are commensurate with the responsibilities of the position.
The physician will report to the Associate Chief of Staff for Specialty Care and will be expected to cooperate with and participate in medical duties or functions related to quality of care, peer review, serving on facility committees and other performance improvement activities and other duties as assigned.
