A mission-driven community health center (FQHC) network in New York City is looking for a primary care physician to serve as Medical Director at one of its neighborhood health centers. You’ll lead the center’s clinical team while continuing to care for patients.
This is a great opportunity if you’ve spent several years in practice and want to grow into a leadership role. You’ll lead a welcoming, judgment-free practice that serves a diverse, underserved community, including LGBTQ+ patients and people living with HIV.
What You’ll Do
- Carry a primary care patient panel of adults, adolescents, and children
- Partner with the Center Director to run day-to-day medical operations, quality, and patient flow
- Provide clinical leadership at your health center, supervising and mentoring physicians and advanced practice providers
- Champion high-quality, culturally responsive care for every patient who walks through the door
- Manage chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and asthma
- Provide sexual and reproductive health services, including IUD and Nexplanon placement and removal
- Report to the network’s primary care leadership and help shape clinical programs across the organization
- Deliver HIV prevention and treatment (PrEP / PEP) and gender-affirming care
What You’ll Bring
- 1+ years of post-residency experience in outpatient primary care
- AAHIVS certification, or interest in earning it (preferred)
- Experience with long-acting reversible contraception (IUD / Nexplanon)
- Experience in gender-affirming care and in caring for LGBTQ+ patients (a strong plus)
- An MD or DO, board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine
- An active New York State medical license
- Pediatric experience
- A passion for community health and a desire to grow into leadership; prior medical director experience is not required
Why You’ll Love It
- A salary of $195,000–$225,000
- Leadership development for physicians ready to step up
- A generous benefits package
- A supportive, values-driven team caring for medically underserved New Yorkers
- Meaningful, varied clinical work with a broad patient population
- A welcoming workplace that encourages applicants of all backgrounds, including clinicians of color and members of the LGBTQ+ community
