Opportunity

We are seeking a Family Medicine or Internal Medicine Physician for an outpatient locum tenens assignment in Porterville, CA. Family Medicine physicians are preferred. Join a multidisciplinary team providing accessible primary care to a diverse community, including many Spanish-speaking patients and agricultural families. Family Medicine providers care for patients across the lifespan; Internal Medicine providers focus on adult care.

Schedule and assignment

• Anticipated assignment of three to four months, with the possibility of extension.
• Full-time options include five 8-hour days or four 9-hour days; four 9-hour days equal 36 paid hours. Evening and Saturday coverage is part of the practice schedule; confirm the exact rotation before acceptance.
• Typical volume: 20–24 patients per 8-hour day or 24–27 per 9-hour day.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive visits, health screenings, and evaluation and management of acute and chronic conditions.
• Order and interpret diagnostic testing, develop treatment plans, and coordinate referrals and follow-up care within the provider’s scope of practice.
• Provide office-based procedures within training and scope; collaborate with physicians, APPs, medical assistants, and specialty services.
• Maintain accurate, timely electronic medical records. Use eClinicalWorks; physician notes must be locked within 72 business hours.

Qualifications

• MD or DO with an active California medical license and DEA registration.
• Training in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine; Family Medicine physicians preferred.
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, documentation, and teamwork skills; commitment to caring for diverse and underserved communities.
