This is an excellent opportunity for a physician who enjoys patient care but is ready to take on greater responsibility in provider leadership, mentoring, quality improvement, and clinic performance. The Lead Physician works closely with the Site Operations Manager in a dyad leadership model and reports to the Chair of Medicine.

The organization serves underserved communities throughout Memphis through an integrated care model that includes primary care, behavioral health, pharmacy, dental, and specialty services.

  • Opportunity to mentor and develop providers
  • Collaborative dyad leadership model with the Site Operations Manager
  • Focus on quality improvement, patient access, provider engagement, and clinical outcomes
  • Integrated community health environment serving underserved patient populations
  • Approximately 5–10% local/on-the-job travel for leadership meetings, training, and occasional travel between sites

Leadership Responsibilities

The Lead Physician will provide clinical leadership and oversight for providers at the assigned health center. Responsibilities include supporting evidence-based, patient-centered care; monitoring quality and productivity; conducting provider evaluations; mentoring clinicians; and helping address performance or workflow opportunities.

The physician will also partner closely with operational leadership to improve patient access, clinic efficiency, staffing coordination, care gaps, population health outcomes, and the overall patient experience.

Additional responsibilities include participation in quality improvement initiatives, peer and case review, chart audits, and efforts related to UDS, HRSA, PCMH, and value-based care metrics.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree
  • Board certification in a primary care specialty
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical practice experience
  • Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, or supervisory experience
  • Current unrestricted Tennessee medical license
  • DEA registration and BLS certification
  • FQHC/community health experience preferred
  • Experience supervising APPs or residents is a plus
  • Quality improvement, population health, PCMH, or healthcare leadership experience preferred

Benefits

The organization offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical coverage through BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, dental and vision options, and a 401(k) with an employer matching contribution of up to 4% of eligible pay when the employee contributes at least 5%.

Additional benefits include employer-paid basic life and AD&D insurance, voluntary disability and supplemental insurance options, Flexible Spending and Dependent Care Accounts, paid time off, paid holidays, and an Employee Assistance Program.

Most benefits for eligible full-time employees begin on the first of the month following the date of hire.
