Client is a 12-bed Critical Access Hospital serving more than 2,600 residents in Client and the surrounding region.

The medical center provides 24-hour physician, advanced practice, and clinical coverage supporting emergency care, ambulance services, diagnostic laboratory and imaging services, and acute inpatient care.

Client is seeking a Family Medicine Physician to provide comprehensive care to patients across the lifespan in both outpatient and inpatient settings.

You'll care for patients ranging from routine preventive visits and chronic disease management to acute illnesses and inpatient care. You'll also work closely with nursing, specialty, emergency, and ancillary teams to coordinate care across the continuum.

You'll care for patients ranging from routine preventive visits and chronic disease management to acute illnesses and inpatient care. You'll also work closely with nursing, specialty, emergency, and ancillary teams to coordinate care across the continuum.
Job Responsibilities
Outpatient Family Medicine:
Provide comprehensive primary care to patients of all ages.
Conduct new-patient evaluations, follow-up visits, physical examinations, and wellness visits.
Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions.
Provide preventive care, screenings, counseling, and health education.
Develop individualized treatment plans and coordinate referrals when specialty care is needed.
Build long-term relationships with patients and families.
Inpatient & Hospital Care:
Admit and manage patients requiring inpatient care.
Conduct daily rounds and manage acute medical conditions.
Coordinate care with nursing, ancillary services, and consulting specialists.
Provide appropriate follow-up and discharge planning.
Support continuity of care between inpatient and outpatient settings.
Emergency & On-Call Coverage:
Support emergency services as part of the medical center's clinical team.
Participate in the physician on-call rotation.
Respond to acute patient needs and provide appropriate evaluation and management.
Collaborate with emergency, nursing, ambulance, and other clinical personnel.
Collaboration & Quality:
Work closely with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant medical records.
Participate in quality improvement and patient-safety initiatives.
Contribute to community health education and outreach.
Help advance the medical center's commitment to accessible, patient-centered rural healthcare.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
Completion of an accredited Family Medicine residency program.
Board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine.
Current or eligible South Dakota medical license.
Current or eligible DEA registration.
Strong clinical skills across preventive, acute, and chronic care.
Ability to provide both inpatient and outpatient care.
Willingness to participate in the on-call rotation.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.
Ability to work effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, allied health professionals, and support staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior rural, critical access hospital, or community-based practice experience.
Experience providing both hospital and outpatient family medicine.
Experience working in an environment requiring broad clinical skills and physician autonomy.
