An established community health organization in Chicago is seeking an experienced physician leader to serve as an Interim / Fractional Site Medical Director.

This is a leadership-focused assignment rather than traditional clinical coverage. Approximately 80% of the role will focus on administrative and operational leadership, with approximately 20% focused on clinical oversight.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day physician leadership for the primary care site
• Partner closely with the Practice Manager and organizational medical leadership
• Supervise, coach, and support physicians and APPs
• Evaluate provider productivity and performance
• Support clinical quality initiatives and established metrics
• Improve provider engagement, accountability, communication, and collaboration
• Identify operational and clinical issues affecting site performance
• Implement practical solutions to improve quality, productivity, and overall performance
• Provide clinical oversight and guidance to the provider team
• Help stabilize site leadership during the organization's permanent Medical Director search

Requirements

• MD or DO
• Active Illinois physician license
• Board Certified in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
• Family Medicine strongly preferred
• Previous Medical Director, Site Medical Director, Clinical Director, or comparable physician leadership experience
• Strong ambulatory primary care experience
• FQHC or community health experience strongly preferred
• Epic experience
• Experience supervising and developing physicians and APPs
• Strong understanding of clinical quality, productivity, and performance metrics
• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to enter an established practice, build trust quickly, identify issues, and drive meaningful improvement
