A unique opportunity is available for a Family Medicine physician to provide comprehensive medical care in a supportive residential healthcare setting in San Antonio. This assignment offers a predictable weekday schedule, manageable patient needs, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on a specialized patient population.
Position Highlights
- Immediate start with an initial 8-week assignment and option to extend
- Monday–Friday schedule, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
- Approximately 40 hours per week
- Home call one night per week, typically averaging five calls
- One weekend of home call per month
- Weekend call runs Friday at 5:00 p.m. through Monday at 8:00 a.m.
- Average weekend call volume is approximately 25 calls
- Supportive hospital-based practice environment
- Credentialing timeframe of approximately two weeks
- Locum tenens, 1099 opportunity
Physician Responsibilities
The physician will provide ongoing primary and acute medical care for residents, including evaluation of changes in condition, post-hospital follow-up, coordination with consulting services, and communication with facility staff. The role includes responding to clinical concerns during scheduled home-call coverage.
Requirements
- Active, unrestricted Texas medical license
- Active DEA certification
- Current CPR certification through an American Heart Association-approved course
- Hospital privileges or credentialing with hospitals utilized by the facility
- Successful completion of required drug screening and fingerprinting
- Completion of facility and Texas Health and Human Services-required training
- Current certifications must remain active throughout the assignment
