Position Overview

We are seeking a Family Medicine or Internal Medicine Physician for a full-time locum tenens opportunity in a correctional healthcare setting in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area.

Schedule

• Monday: 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM
• Tuesday through Friday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• No call responsibilities
• Full-time coverage required

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive medical care for patients in an infirmary and correctional healthcare setting.
• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat acute and chronic medical conditions.
• Conduct patient assessments, including medical histories and physical examinations.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment and care plans.
• Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as clinically appropriate.
• Evaluate and manage acute medical issues.
• Order medications, diagnostic testing, referrals, and other appropriate treatment.
• Provide patient education regarding diagnoses, disease prevention, and disease management.
• Perform basic procedures, including suturing, splinting, and incision and drainage.
• Provide clinical guidance and oversight to advanced practice providers and clinical support staff.
• Collaborate with nursing staff and other members of the healthcare team.
• Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation within the electronic medical record.
• Participate in quality improvement, utilization review, and other clinical activities as required.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree.
• Completion of an accredited residency in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.
• Board Eligible or Board Certified in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.
• Active Pennsylvania medical license required.
• BLS certification required.
• ACLS certification preferred.
• Correctional healthcare experience is preferred but not required.
• Ability to commit to a minimum assignment of 26 weeks.
