Family Medicine Physician – Weekend Coverage- Melrose, Minnesota

Aya Locums is seeking a board-certified Family Medicine physician for a six-month locum tenens assignment at a rural hospital in Melrose, Minnesota.

Position Details

• Start date: October 5, 2026
• Assignment length: Six months
• Primary need: Weekend coverage
• Weekend rotation: 1:4 or 1:5, with flexibility for additional weekends
• Coverage days: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
• Coverage is primarily call-based
• Additional consecutive weekends may be available
• Optional clinic shifts may also be available
• EMR: Epic
• Hospital census: Approximately 7–9 medical and transitional care patients
• Local candidates preferred

Clinical Responsibilities

• Morning rounding
• Pediatric admissions
• Emergency department support
• Adult admissions as needed
• Backup call coverage

Providers must be able to respond to the hospital within 30 minutes when providing backup call. Physicians working in the Emergency Department must be onsite.

Telehospitalist coverage is available for adult admissions Monday–Thursday from 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m., as well as 24-hour coverage on weekends and holidays. During weekday hours from 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m., the physician on call manages admissions.

Support

• LPN or CMA working directly with the provider
• RN support within the care team
• Onsite interpreter
• Laboratory and imaging services available 24/7

Requirements

• MD or DO
• Board certification in Family Medicine
• Active Minnesota medical license
• Minimum of two years of experience
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and ATLS certification
• Clean professional record with no malpractice claims or current or past lawsuits
• Two completed professional references required for submission

References may be completed using Aya or facility forms.

Credentialing

• Standard credentialing timeframe: Approximately 90 days
• Physicians already attributed to another CentraCare site may complete privileging within a few days
