Family Medicine Locum Opportunity – Melrose, MN

We are seeking a Board-Certified Family Medicine physician for a 6-month locum assignment in Melrose, Minnesota. This is an excellent opportunity for a physician seeking flexible scheduling with a primary focus on weekend call coverage in a supportive rural hospital setting.

Schedule

The primary coverage need is a 1:4 or 1:5 weekend rotation, including:

• Friday
• Saturday
• Sunday

Responsibilities include:

• Weekend call coverage
• Morning inpatient rounding
• Pediatric admissions
• Emergency Department support

Providers interested in covering multiple consecutive weekends or adding weekday clinic shifts are welcome. Clinic days average 13–15 patients per day.

Practice Details

• Rural community hospital
• Average inpatient census: 7–9 medical and transitional care patients
• Tele-hospitalist coverage:
  • Adult admissions Monday–Thursday nights
  • 24-hour coverage on weekends and holidays
• On-call physician manages daytime admissions during the week
• 24/7 laboratory and imaging services available
• Support staff includes LPN/CMA, RN, and on-site interpreter services

Requirements

• Board Certified in Family Medicine
• Active Minnesota medical license
• Minimum 2 years of experience
• Clean malpractice and disciplinary history
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and ATLS certifications required
• Ability to respond to the hospital within 30 minutes while on backup call (unless scheduled in the Emergency Department)

Credentialing

• Approximately 90 days
• Expedited privileging available for providers already credentialed within the CentraCare system
• Two completed professional references required at the time of submission
