Family Health Centers, Inc. is seeking an experienced and visionary Associate Medical Director to join our executive leadership team. This unique opportunity combines direct patient care with strategic leadership, allowing you to influence healthcare delivery across a growing Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) serving rural and underserved communities throughout South Carolina.
Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and working closely with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), the Associate Medical Director serves as a key clinical leader responsible for supporting provider success, strengthening clinical operations, improving patient access, and advancing quality outcomes across multiple practice locations.
This position is ideal for a Nurse Practitioner, Physician (MD), or Osteopathic Physician (DO) who is passionate about leadership, mentorship, innovation, and delivering exceptional patient-centered care.

Job Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership
Collaborate with the COO and CMO to support organizational goals, clinical quality initiatives, and operational excellence.
Provide leadership, mentorship, and professional support to physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other clinical staff.
Promote evidence-based medicine and patient-centered care practices.
Support provider engagement, performance improvement, and professional development.
Assist with provider recruitment, onboarding, retention, and succession planning.
Serve as a clinical leader and resource across all Family Health Centers locations.
Act on behalf of the CMO as assigned during periods of absence or designated coverage.
Patient Care
Maintain an active patient panel and provide comprehensive, high-quality primary care services.
Ensure compliance with established clinical standards, quality measures, and regulatory requirements.
Foster positive patient experiences and improve health outcomes.
Operational Excellence
Support initiatives that improve patient access, clinic efficiency, provider productivity, and patient satisfaction.
Collaborate with operational leaders to optimize workflows and care delivery processes.
Participate in strategic planning and organizational performance improvement efforts.
Utilize data and quality metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and implement effective solutions.
Support compliance with FQHC, state, federal, and accreditation standards.
Qualifications
Required
Current South Carolina licensure as a Nurse Practitioner, Physician (MD), or Osteopathic Physician (DO).
Minimum of five (5) years of clinical practice experience.
Demonstrated commitment to quality patient care and healthcare excellence.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred
Previous leadership, supervisory, or management experience.
Experience in primary care, family medicine, internal medicine, community health, or Federally Qualified Health Centers.
Experience leading quality improvement, provider engagement, or operational initiatives.
Passion for serving rural and underserved populations.
