Primary Care Medical Director Opportunity in Vermont

A leadership opportunity is available for a Family Medicine physician who enjoys both guiding a team and providing patient care. This role combines clinical work with leadership responsibilities, offering the chance to mentor providers, support operations, and care for patients in a close-knit community.


Practice Overview

  • You'll guide and mentor a primary care team that includes nurse practitioners and a strong interdisciplinary support staff
  • Patient-centered medical model integrating primary care, behavioral health, and dental services
  • Dedicated support staff, including triage nurses, a population health manager, a community health worker, a referral specialist, and one medical assistant per provider
  • Shared phone call rotation of 1:6 with minimal call volume


Schedule

  • Three clinical days per week, including 2.5 days of patient care and a half-day for documentation and administrative work
  • Two days dedicated to leadership responsibilities and program development
  • Patient visit structure designed for thoughtful care: 40 minutes for complex visits and 20 minutes for acute visits


Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive compensation package including a generous signing bonus and relocation support
  • Five weeks of CTO, eight paid holidays, plus CME time, and a $2,000 annual CME allowance
  • 401(k) with employer contribution, health coverage with employer-paid family premium support, and paid professional licensing fees


Candidate Requirements

  • Board-certified or board-eligible physician in Family Medicine with experience providing comprehensive primary care across all age groups
  • Interest in leadership, mentorship, and guiding clinical teams
  • Comfort managing complex chronic conditions in a rural patient population
