Family Medicine Faculty with Obstetrics

Location: Chambersburg, PA ? Driving Distance from Baltimore and Washington, D.C., halfway between Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.

WellSpan Health, a mission-driven, physician-led integrated health system, is seeking a full-time, board-certified Family Medicine physician with obstetrics experience to join our ACGME-accredited Family Medicine Residency Program in scenic Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.

This is a unique opportunity to help design and build the OB model for our inaugural residency program, supported by a deeply committed academic and clinical team. Be part of a health system that values innovation, collaboration, and community impact.

? Position Highlights

  • Lead the development of the OB model in partnership with the Residency Program Director
  • Shape the curriculum and clinical rotations to meet ACGME standards
  • Mentor and advise residents in a newly launched, unopposed 6-6-6 program
  • First class of residents began July 2025
  • Participate in resident recruitment, evaluation, and professional development
  • OB experience is required ? this role includes hands-on obstetric care
  • Engage with the community and contribute to lifelong wellness initiatives
  • Collaborate with two other FM residencies within the WellSpan system
  • Future academic opportunities with the new regional medical school campus of the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University at WellSpan Health in York, PA.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Assists with reviews of the quality of resident education and makes changes as necessary.
  • Provides family medicine primary care services within WMG (this would include THFPC).
  • Provides in-hospital patient care and consultations as required. Serves as attending physician on the inpatient service.
  • Supervises and teaches residents and medical students.
  • Participates in teaching rounds and consultations to other services.
  • Assists with resident recruitment and evaluation.
  • Participates in research and other scholarly activities.

Common Expectations:

  • Participates in Medical Staff activities as required and/or as requested.
  • Observes the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of the Hospital and the Medical Staff.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.
  • Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) Required or
  • Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) Required

Licenses:

  • Licensed Medical Physician and Surgeon Upon Hire Required or
  • Licensed Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Upon Hire Required

Courses and Training:

  • Diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice, or the American Osteopathic Board of Family Practice, or Board eligible. Upon Hire Required or
  • Completion of a Family Practice residency. Upon Hire Required and
  • Must qualify and be a member of the Medical Staff of York Hospital. Upon Hire Required
