Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Primary Care Physician (Internal Medicine or Family Practice) to join our team at the Schuykill County VA Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC). This full-time position offers an excellent opportunity to provide comprehensive primary care services to enrolled Veterans, with flexible part-time arrangements (20-30 hours per week) also considered. The facility operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with closures on weekends and federal holidays.

Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality outpatient primary medical care to Veterans in accordance with VA guidelines and scope of practice.
- Provide patient-centered care through face-to-face, telehealth, and telephone consultations, ensuring same-day access whenever possible.
- Develop, implement, and monitor personalized care plans, incorporating patient preferences, health education, and appropriate referrals or interventions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members and supervise clinical care processes, promoting teamwork and continuous quality improvement.
- Review clinical and performance data regularly to identify opportunities for process enhancements.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding their diagnoses, test results, and treatment plans, providing educational resources as appropriate.
- Participate actively in the VA’s Performance Improvement Program and ensure accurate, complete documentation of patient encounters.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, and accreditation standards, including OSHA and VA policies, maintaining patient confidentiality and safety at all times.
- Support clinic operations by assisting in day-to-day activities, including care coordination and administrative tasks, alongside nursing and management staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including serving as a liaison between the VAMC and the broader healthcare team.
Qualifications:
- Medical degree from an accredited institution.
- Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine or Family Practice (ABMS or BOS).
- Valid Pennsylvania medical license.
- Prescriptive authority for controlled substances.
- Willingness to perform Women's Health exams following training.
- Ability to pass VA background screening.
- Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or Military Training Network.
- Proof of annual TB clearance and influenza vaccination (or valid declination).
Working Conditions:
- Moderate physical activity, including standing or walking for extended periods.
- Handling objects up to 25 pounds.
- Primarily performed within a clinical setting; quick responses may be required to medical emergencies within the clinic.
