VieMed Healthcare Staffing is seeking a qualified Locum Physician specializing in Primary Care to provide essential medical services at a detention facility in Jena, Louisiana. Required Skills:
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution
  • Current, unrestricted medical license in Louisiana
  • DEA certification for prescribing controlled substances
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant clinical experience providing direct patient care
  • Proficiency in physical assessments, diagnostic testing, and treatment planning
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work independently with high integrity and professionalism
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and patient confidentiality regulations
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Board certification or eligibility in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or Pediatrics
  • Experience working in correctional, detention, or residential healthcare settings
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems
  • Familiarity with social determinants of health and culturally competent care

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Medical degree from an accredited U.S. or Canadian program
  • At least one year of direct patient care experience in a primary care setting
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR

Other Requirements:
  • Availability to work 8-10 hour shifts, five days per week
  • Flexibility to respond to medical emergencies and participate in on-call rotations
  • Ability to respond promptly within four minutes during emergencies
  • Physical ability to perform emergency procedures and assist patients as needed

Compensation and Benefits:
  • Hourly pay rate of $150 all inclusive, with weekly pay via direct deposit
