Summary
Seeking a Family Medicine Physician to provide direct, high-quality medical care to residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities at a Supported Living Center. The physician will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, families, and external specialists.
Key Responsibilities

Provide direct primary and chronic care for residents

Diagnose and treat common and complex medical conditions (e.g., hypertension, diabetes, asthma)

Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests

Prescribe medications, therapies, and vaccinations

Consult with patients and families regarding care plans and prevention

Collaborate with Family Nurse Practitioners, families, and specialists
-
Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings
-
Maintain timely and compliant documentation (HHSC and CMS standards)

Contribute to facility procedures to meet Medicare/Medicaid and HHSC guidelines
Required Qualifications

MD/DO degree from an accredited medical school

Active Texas medical license (in good standing; no sanctions)

Valid DEA and Texas Controlled Substance Registration

National Provider Identifier (NPI)

Current CPR certification (must remain valid throughout the assignment)
Preferred Background

Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities

Knowledge of Medicaid/Medicare, CMS compliance, and electronic documentation standards

Strong interpersonal and independent clinical decision-making skills

Supervision: Limited; high degree of autonomy expected

Onsite position only (not remote or hybrid)

Onboarding coordinated by DSSLC once candidate is selected
