The Medical Center is a progressive, community-based teaching hospital and financially secure institution with over 1,700 employees, including more than 100 providers bringing expertise in 30+ specialties. The Medical Center has recently completed a $30-million expansion program, and the Joint Commission has named our hospital a “Top Performer on Key Quality Measures” for the last ten years. It is the first Georgia hospital placed on the Hepatitis B Birth Dose Honor Roll by the Immunization Action Coalition. It has consistently received Trustee Honor Roll designation from the Georgia Hospital Association. Our facility is listed on the Hospital Engagement Network’s “Elite Circle” for patient safety. The Leapfrog Group, an independent industry watchdog, has given it an “A” rating across 17 annual surveys and named the medical center the national “Top Rural Hospital” twice in recent years.

Located in the heart of southwest Georgia with a county-wide population of more than 45,000 people, we are home to a thriving agricultural industry and historic homes and is a place where family and community support are central to the lifestyle. While an escape from urban congestion with a short commute to work is one of its greatest benefits, we are centrally located within 45 minutes or less of Albany, Thomasville, Tifton, and Valdosta and just over an hour from Tallahassee, FL and three hours from Metro Atlanta. Our proximity to several regional and international airports and the beaches of coastal Georgia, Florida and Alabama gives ample opportunity for quick getaways.
