- The Float Medical Provider is a MD or DO who will be responsible for providing high quality primary care to the patients in the outpatient setting.
- The health system provides comprehensive primary and preventative health care services to a growing patient population. It is committed to providing excellent service to its patient population. The rapidly expanding center offers services that include: internal and family medicine, pediatrics, dentistry, care management, and behavioral health.
- The health system is dedicated to serving low-income, multi-ethnic populations throughout the greater Sacramento area, with a special focus on immigrant communities. It has a diverse team, passionate about meeting the needs of the community through patient-centered, compassionate, comprehensive, integrated care.
- This is a hybrid role that requires covering the in-person and/or remote clinic schedule and inbox for other medical providers who are on leave. When in-person coverage is needed, the Float Medical Provider will be scheduled in-person at a practice location in the Greater Sacramento area. When coverage is not needed, the Float Medical Provider has a remote telemedicine schedule for same-day visits.
- This role offers great flexibility in terms of hours: Both 8- and 10-hour weekday schedules will be considered, as well as 8- to 40-hour week schedules. Schedules can be either the same every week or based on organizational need, depending on the Float Medical Providers preference.
- There are no on-call responsibilities, panel of patients, supervision of other providers, or required weekend hours. In-person work will be required when covering for an in-person providers leave; otherwise, work will be remote.
**Job Duties and Responsibilities**
- Provide comprehensive medical services to patients consistent with specialty scope of practice in a community clinic environment, including taking appropriate health history, performing physical examination, developing differential diagnoses, completing medical work- up, performing or ordering appropriate lab, imaging, and other tests, prescribing and implementing appropriate therapy according to standard medical practice.
- Obtain appropriate consults when problems presented are outside the scope of practice or area of expertise or when unfamiliar with a particular aspect of the patients care.
- Facilitate transfer of care to other clinicians when religious or personal beliefs interfere with the clinicians ability to offer full care options.
- Provide oral and written health education to patients and their families and answer questions.
- Maintain productivity standards in order to sustain access to care while maintaining high quality.
- Answer messages and sign off on clinical reports (consults, lab, x-rays, etc.) in a timely manner.
- Complete legible and legally defensible medical records in a timely manner on a daily basis.
- Complete and submit all billing in a timely manner.
- Attend continuing education programs and submit evidence of necessary education completion for the purpose of upgrading medical skills and maintaining licensing requirements.
- Offer cultural and linguistically appropriate services to a diverse and often socioeconomically challenged population.
- Be flexible and able to change plans as needed, as schedules may not always be known in advance, as some provider leave-of-absences may occur without advance warning.
