Description:
Seeking a board-certified Family Medicine physician for a full-time locum tenens opportunity in Ketchikan, Alaska. This outpatient position offers a consistent Monday–Friday schedule, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with no call responsibilities.
The physician will provide primary care to patients of all ages in a solo-provider setting, seeing approximately 16–18 patients per day. Physicians with 3.5–5 years of experience and familiarity with common office procedures are preferred.
There may also be occasional opportunities to provide Family Medicine coverage at a nearby island location, approximately one week per month.
Job Responsibilities
Evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic conditions.
See approximately 16–18 patients per day.
Work independently in a solo-provider setting.
Maintain accurate patient documentation using Epic EMR.
Perform office-based procedures when qualified, including skin excisions, punch biopsies, Nexplanon and IUD procedures, cryotherapy, and toenail evulsions.
Provide occasional coverage at a nearby island location if available and interested.
Qualifications
Internal Medicine physicians may also be considered.
Alaska medical license preferred, but candidates willing to obtain an Alaska license may be considered.
BLS certification required through AHA or American Red Cross, as applicable.
Epic EMR experience required.
Approximately 3.5–5 years of clinical experience preferred.
Must demonstrate involvement as an admitting physician for at least 20 patients within the past two years.
Inpatient experience is not required.
Listed office procedures are preferred but not required.
Working Hours
Eight-hour daily shift.
Full-time, 1.0 FTE.
Outpatient setting.
No call responsibilities.
Expected start January 4, 2027; earlier start may be considered.
Current assignment approval through May 6, 2027.
