Job description

West Tennessee Healthcare and The Department of Family Medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center is seeking a full time OBGYN or FM/OB faculty member for their established unopposed (14-14-14) residency program based at Jackson-Madison Co. General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee. This is a new Family Medicine Obstetrics Fellowship program with a rural track emphasis. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to help establish a new Obstetrics Fellowship program with a rural track emphasis. In addition, responsibilities include full-service obstetrical and operative/non-operative gynecological services and working alongside other faculty to train both family medicine residents and those entering our new Obstetrics fellowship. Qualified applicants should hold an MD or DO degree, be board certified and have experience as a physician, leader and educator. This position is concurrently employed by the University of Tennessee and West Tennessee Healthcare.

The University of Tennessee Family Practice Residency in Jackson is an evidence-based teaching program that has a balanced curriculum including medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, geriatrics and emergency medicine. Our program's 5-year average score for the ABFM Board Exam is in the top 1% nationally. As the only residency program at Jackson-Madison Co. General Hospital, we maintain our own inpatient medicine, pediatrics and OB. Our OB service delivers over 3,000 babies per year with residents closely managing labor, delivery, postpartum and newborn care. As residents progress through their training, they are given progressive autonomy while caring for more complex patients.

The outpatient clinic setting offers full spectrum family medicine. In addition to providing routine and preventative OBGYN services, in-office gynecological procedures include colposcopy, LEEP, IUD and Nexplanon. The clinic sees approximately 150 patients per day with both scheduled and walk-in patients.

Benefits:

  • Competitive compensation with sign-on bonus, loan repayment and relocation assistance

  • Comprehensive benefits package with group health, 403(b) and other investment options
