Endocrinology Locums | Immediate & Ongoing Coverage

WPA Medicine Staffing is seeking a BC/BE Endocrinology Physician for an ongoing locums opportunity in Pennsylvania. This assignment offers consistent clinic and call coverage, with approximately 1–2 weeks of coverage needed per month.

Assignment Highlights

• Start: ASAP
• Ongoing assignment
• Approximately 1–2 weeks/month of consistent coverage
• Monday–Friday: Clinic 8:00 AM–5:00 PM + overnight call
• Weekday call: 5:00 PM–8:00 AM
• Weekend call: Saturday–Sunday, 8:00 AM–8:00 AM
• No weekend clinic
• EMR: Epic
• Approximately 18–20 patients/day in clinic
• Average outpatient volume: approximately 19 patients/day
• Approximately 10 calls per weeknight/weekend
• Average admissions while on call: 0
• Nurse triage handles calls initially and escalates to the physician when needed
• 30-minute response time
• Provider will not work completely independently; support is available through nursing triage and hospital staff

Clinical Responsibilities

During the Monday–Friday clinic schedule, the physician will:

• Evaluate and manage endocrinology patients in the outpatient clinic
• See both new and established patients
• Review patient test results
• Manage prescription refills
• Provide follow-up and continuity of care
• Remain available by phone after clinic hours for patient-related questions

During weekend coverage, the physician will provide phone-based coverage only for outpatient and inpatient needs. Hospitalists may contact the endocrinologist for curbside consultations when appropriate.

Call Responsibilities

• Weeknights: 5:00 PM–8:00 AM
• Weekends: 8:00 AM–8:00 AM
• Approximately 10 calls per weeknight/weekend
• Nurse triage handles initial calls before escalation
• 30-minute response time
• No average admissions while on call
• Inpatient and outpatient questions may be addressed by phone
• Providers are responsible for reviewing results and refilling prescriptions as needed, including when not physically onsite

Immediate Open Dates

• November 1
• November 8–22
• December 18–January 16

Requirements

• BC/BE Endocrinology
• Active Pennsylvania license
• PA DEA
• ACLS
• BLS
• Minimum 5 years of experience
• IMLC candidates will not be considered
• Must be comfortable with both outpatient endocrinology and overnight/weekend call responsibilities
