Division Director of Endocrinology

The University of Missouri, School of Medicine/ MU Health Care

The Department of Medicine at the University of Missouri-Columbia is seeking a fellowship trained MD/DO Clinician in Endocrinology, who will serve on the non-tenure track or tenure/tenure track and Division Director of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism.

In the fall of 2021, University of Missouri launched the NextGen Precision Health Institute, which focuses primarily on Cardiometabolic, Cancer and Neuroscience research. The NextGen Precision Health Institute provides talented minds from across the UM System a cutting-edge research facility dedicated to solving our most pressing health concerns. The building integrates multidisciplinary lab space with advanced analytical instrumentation, computational processing, and pilot-scale manufacturing to create a comprehensive research pipeline.

The candidate for this search will join other world class researchers and clinicians focused on bringing research to translational precision medicine for the prevention and treatment of endocrine disorders. We particularly want to hear from candidates who are already involved in endocrine research and especially want to talk to candidates from diverse backgrounds.

Clinical

  • Ambulatory care and teaching in the recently-remodeled Cosmopolitan International Diabetes and Endocrinology Center, and the Harry S Truman VA Medical Center
  • Well-developed multidisciplinary clinics with Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery in our Ellis Fischel Cancer Center
  • Consultative procedural care available for patients with adrenal and pituitary disorders, and with obesity

Education

  • Thriving Endocrinology fellowship program with demonstrable academic success, graduating three fellows annually
  • Internal Medicine and Internal Medicine/Pediatrics residency programs with a combined total of around 80 residents
  • School of Medicine with 128 students per class

Research

  • NIH-funded investigators in cardiovascular and metabolic disorders, with expertise in vascular remodeling, repair, and regeneration; bioenergetics; heart failure; precision nutrition and non-alcoholic fatty liver
  • The NextGen Precision Health building, set to open in fall 2021, is a state-of-the-art, 265,000-square-foot facility, designed to enable cardiovascular and metabolic disorders research as one of six focus areas
  • Current clinical trials conducted in the clinics and the Clinical Research Center which houses both inpatient and outpatient clinical trials, and a Clinical Translational Sciences Unit under development in the NextGen Precision Health building

Organization

  • The Division of Endocrinology is one of ten academic divisions in the Department of Medicine
  • University Hospital is situated on the main University of Missouri campus, with ready access to collaborators in other School of Medicine departments, such as Medical Pharmacology and Physiology, and Nutrition and Exercise Physiology
  • The School of Medicine and University Physicians have a strong partnership with MU Health Care, with executive oversight from the Executive Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs
