A busy community Emergency Department in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area is seeking a board-certified Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine physician for an ongoing locums assignment.

This is an excellent opportunity for physicians seeking flexible scheduling, fully covered travel and lodging, and ongoing emergency department coverage in a high-volume community hospital setting.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Evaluate and treat emergency department patients
• Manage acute and urgent medical conditions
• Perform emergency medicine assessments and stabilization
• Care for adult and pediatric patients
• Manage admissions and disposition planning
• Collaborate with APPs and hospital staff
• Document encounters within Sunrise EMR
• Complete charting within 24 hours of each shift
• Provide evidence-based emergency care in a community hospital setting

Schedule

Flexible Locums Coverage

Providers are needed for approximately:

• 9 shifts per month
• 50-75 hours monthly

Available Shift Options

• 6:00 AM - 3:00 PM
• 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
• 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
• 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM
• 2:00 PM - 11:00 PM
• 4:00 PM - 12:00 AM
• 4:00 PM - 1:00 AM
• 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM

Providers may select shifts based on availability.

• 25% admission rate
• Approximately 13,500 admissions annually
• 7% pediatric patient population
• 46 ED beds
• 2-6 physician providers on shift depending on census
• APP coverage available (7a-7p and 7p-7a)
• Community hospital environment
• No trauma designation

Qualifications

Required

• MD or DO
• Board Certified Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine
• Active Pennsylvania License, Pending Pennsylvania License, or IMLC Eligibility
• Active DEA Registration
• Emergency Department experience
• Ability to complete charting within 24 hours

Additional Requirements for FM or IM Physicians

• ACLS
• PALS
• ATLS
• Successful completion of client sedation quiz

Preferred

• Emergency Medicine residency training
• Community Emergency Department experience
• High-volume ED experience
• Previous locums experience
• Flexible availability for days, evenings, nights, and weekends
