Job description Emergency department coverage at a critical access hospital in Jamestown, ND. Pay is $285/hr for 12-hour shifts, mostly nights (6p to 6a) with some days, and holiday pay applies on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Open dates run from December 24 through March, and you know your dates in advance. Lodging and mileage are covered. Temporary privileges are possible for providers with a clean file. About 12,000 visits a year with single physician coverage. OB, ortho, ENT, urology, radiology, and pediatrics are available at the hospital, with respiratory therapy in house, a helipad on site, and a sleep room for the physician.

Job Responsibilities

Provide single physician emergency coverage for patients across the lifespan at a Level IV trauma center. Lead adult and pediatric resuscitations and trauma care with EMS, nursing, and consultants. Perform emergency procedures including intubation, central lines, chest tubes, and procedural sedation. Determine dispositions, admissions, and transfers, with complete EMTALA documentation. Chart in Epic.

Qualifications

Board certified in emergency medicine (preferred) or family medicine with emergency medicine experience, ideally in rural or critical access settings. Active, unrestricted North Dakota license. North Dakota is an IMLC state, as are Minnesota, South Dakota, and Montana, and we will guide you through licensing. Current ACLS, PALS, ATLS, and DEA. At least 2 years of emergency medicine experience. Comfortable in Epic.

Working Hours

12-hour shifts, 6a to 6p or 6p to 6a, mostly nights. Open dates December 24 through March.

Intubation and advanced airway management, chest tubes, central lines, procedural sedation, adult and pediatric resuscitation, orthopedic emergencies, leading trauma resuscitations, Epic EMR.
