Position Overview
A healthcare staffing team is seeking experienced Emergency Medicine Physicians for ongoing coverage at an established network of independent freestanding emergency departments throughout the Greater Houston area.
These facilities generally offer lower patient volumes than traditional hospital-based emergency departments, with potential downtime between patient encounters when clinical activity permits. This opportunity may suit physicians seeking flexible scheduling, supplemental income, or recurring locum shifts.

Job Responsibilities
- Evaluate and treat patients presenting with emergency medical conditions
- Manage adult and pediatric emergency presentations
- Perform emergency procedures and stabilize critically ill patients when necessary
- Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic testing
- Coordinate transfers to higher levels of care when indicated
- Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation
- Collaborate with nursing and clinical support teams
Qualifications
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school
- Active, unrestricted Texas medical license
- Emergency Medicine experience required
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine preferred
- Family Medicine or Internal Medicine physicians with substantial independent ER experience may be considered, subject to facility approval
- Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications as required by the facility
- Comfortable practicing independently in a freestanding emergency department
- Ability to manage emergency cases across a broad range of acuity levels
