Position Overview
An established healthcare management group is seeking experienced physicians for ongoing locum tenens coverage at a newly developed community hospital Emergency Department in Western South Dakota.
This opportunity offers an all-inclusive hourly compensation range of $225–$260, flexible day, swing, and night shifts, and potential for consistent monthly assignments through 2027.
Board certification is not required. Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, and Internal Medicine physicians with at least two years of Emergency Department experience are encouraged to apply, provided they meet the facility's licensing, credentialing, and clinical requirements.

Job Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with acute illnesses and injuries.
- Manage adult and pediatric emergency presentations.
- Assess and stabilize critically ill or injured patients.
- Perform emergency procedures as clinically indicated.
- Order and interpret appropriate laboratory studies and diagnostic imaging.
- Determine appropriate treatment, disposition, and transfers when necessary.
- Coordinate care with nursing and other available clinical personnel.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation.
- Exercise sound clinical judgment while providing independent emergency care.
Qualifications
- MD or DO.
- Active South Dakota medical license.
- Minimum of two years of Emergency Department experience.
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and other life support certifications required by the facility.
- Ability to independently evaluate, stabilize, and manage emergency patients.
- Experience managing a broad range of adult and pediatric emergencies.
- Strong clinical judgment and adaptability in a developing Emergency Department.
- Reliable availability for ongoing coverage.
- Ability to meet facility credentialing and privileging requirements.
Working Hours
- Day, swing, and night shifts available.
- Ongoing locum tenens coverage, with assignments extending into 2027.
- Preference for physicians able to commit to approximately 6–10 shifts per month.
- Flexible scheduling based on physician availability and facility coverage needs.
- Multiple physician openings available.
