Position Overview
An established community hospital in South Georgia is seeking experienced physicians for flexible locum tenens coverage in its Emergency Department. This opportunity offers $130 per hour, flexible scheduling, and potential for recurring assignments in a rural community hospital setting.
Physicians with Emergency Medicine experience are encouraged to apply. Board-certified Emergency Medicine physicians are welcome, and experienced Family Medicine or Internal Medicine physicians with substantial Emergency Department experience may also be considered, subject to facility approval.

Job Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with acute illnesses and injuries.
- Manage adult and pediatric emergency cases across a range of acuity levels.
- Perform emergency procedures and stabilize critically ill or injured patients as clinically indicated.
- Order and interpret laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging.
- Coordinate patient transfers to higher levels of care when necessary.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and other clinical personnel to support effective patient care.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and complete medical documentation.
- Deliver appropriate emergency medical services in a community hospital setting.
Qualifications
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
- Previous Emergency Department experience required.
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and any other certifications required for the assignment.
- Ability to manage a broad range of emergency presentations and acuity levels.
- Comfort practicing independently in a rural Emergency Department.
- Ability to meet hospital credentialing and privileging requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active Georgia medical license; licensing requirements will be confirmed during screening.
- Emergency Medicine residency training or equivalent relevant experience.
- Board certification in Emergency Medicine (ABEM), Family Medicine (ABFM), or Internal Medicine (ABIM) is a plus. Other qualified physicians may be considered, subject to facility approval.
Working Hours
- Flexible Emergency Department shifts based on facility needs.
- Potential daytime, evening, and overnight coverage.
- PRN opportunities with potential for recurring monthly assignments.
- Specific coverage dates and shift lengths will be confirmed during scheduling.
