Emergency Medicine Physician Requirements

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or equivalent physician degree
• At least 1 year of emergency medicine experience
• Board certification in Emergency Medicine is required
• Active, unrestricted physician license eligible for practice in North Carolina
• Credentialing with North Carolina Medicaid and enrollment in PECOS before beginning the assignment
• Ability to provide independent emergency department coverage and collaborate effectively with advanced practice providers

Emergency Department Physician Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive emergency evaluations and treatment during a 12-hour shift
• Deliver standard solo emergency department coverage while coordinating with two mid-level providers
• Evaluate and manage a broad range of adult and pediatric emergency conditions
• Order and interpret diagnostic studies, develop treatment plans, and determine appropriate patient disposition
• Respond to emergency cases with support from available anesthesia, general surgery, orthopedic surgery, and radiology services
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in Meditech 6.1
• Collaborate with the emergency department team to promote safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care
