Emergency Medicine Physician Locum Opportunity – Columbia, SC

We are seeking Emergency Medicine Physicians for an urgent, ongoing locum assignment in South Carolina beginning November 2026. This opportunity offers consistent overnight coverage across multiple Emergency Departments within the same regional health system.

Assignment Details

• Start Date: November 27, 2026
• Ongoing coverage until permanent staffing is secured
• 3 Emergency Medicine Physicians needed
• Travel assignment
• Providers will rotate among regional Emergency Departments based on coverage needs
• Providers will only work at one location per shift

Schedule

• Wednesday–Sunday
• 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
• 12-hour night shifts
• Ongoing coverage

Practice Setting

• Emergency Medicine
• Hospital-based Emergency Departments
• Epic EMR
• Multiple locations within the same region

Emergency Department Volumes

Coverage may include:

• 31-bed ED averaging approximately 90 patients/day
• 20-bed ED averaging approximately 120 patients/day
• 15-bed ED averaging approximately 82 patients/day, with an additional fast-track area that is not always open

Clinical Responsibilities

• Provide Emergency Medicine coverage during overnight shifts
• Evaluate and manage Emergency Department patients
• Work at assigned regional location based on scheduling needs
• Maintain flexibility to rotate among locations
• Providers will not be scheduled at multiple locations during the same shift

Requirements

• MD or DO
• Emergency Medicine experience
• Active South Carolina medical license required
• Epic experience required
• Must be comfortable rotating among multiple regional Emergency Departments

Credentialing

• Approximately 60 days

Travel

• Lodging support available within facility guidelines
• Rental car and gas or mileage supported
• Airfare is not covered

Ideal Candidate

An experienced Emergency Medicine Physician with an active South Carolina license and current Epic experience who can provide consistent Wednesday–Sunday, 7p–7a coverage and is comfortable rotating among multiple Emergency Departments within the region.
