Emergency Medicine Physician Locum Opportunity – Alabama

We are seeking Emergency Medicine Physicians for ongoing locum coverage in Alabama beginning January 2027. The primary need is for night-shift coverage, with two physician FTEs currently requested.

Assignment Details

• 2 physician FTEs needed
• Primary need: Night coverage
• Ongoing coverage

Schedule

• 12-hour physician shifts
• Day: 6:00 AM–6:00 PM
• Night: 6:00 PM–6:00 AM
• Current openings focused on nights
• No call

Practice Setting

• Emergency Department
• Approximately 25,000 ED visits annually
• Approximately 10% EMS arrivals
• Approximately 7% admission rate
• Approximately 3% transfer rate
• Epic EMR

Coverage & Support

• 24-hour physician coverage
• 24-hour NP/PA coverage
• Cardiology available
• OB/GYN available
• Surgery support available

Requirements

• MD or DO
• Active, unrestricted Alabama medical license
• DEA and CDS with Alabama address
• DEA authority for Schedules II, IIN, III, IIIN, IV and V
• Emergency Medicine Board Certification preferred
• Board Certified Internal Medicine or Family Medicine physicians may also be considered
• Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department experience
• ACLS, PALS and ATLS required

Credentialing

• Approximately 90 days

Ideal Candidate

An experienced Emergency Medicine physician with an active Alabama license who is available for consistent 6 PM–6 AM night coverage. EM Board Certification is preferred, although qualified IM or FM physicians with at least one year of Emergency Department experience may be considered.
