Job description
Excel Medical Staffing is seeking an Emergency Medicine Physician for 520 hours/year. The Chinle Service Unit serves a population of 37,000. Covering an area of 3600 square miles, the hospital and clinic are the only medical services in the immediate area. The CCHCF is a 60-bed hospital, which provides medical, surgical, pediatric and obstetric care. The Emergency Department and the Urgent Care Department care for approximately 35,000 patients per year. The Emergency Department consists of nine (9) beds and emergency care services are provided on a 24-hour basis for adults, adolescent children, and infants. The Urgent Care consists of six (6) beds and is staffed by mid-level providers (Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners) who see patients that present for acute care and who have been triaged as lower acuity. The Urgent Care is an extension of the Emergency Department; utilizing the same central triage and staff, and subject to the same EMTALA regulations. The Urgent Care operates form 8 am – 3 am. The Emergency Department also provides care for patients with less acute illnesses who present to the department after 12 am.
Job Responsibilities
A. The contractor shall make preliminary diagnosis, directs, prescribes or provides treatment, or arranges for specialized care of patient referral as required. Evaluates patients, adult/adolescents who come to the emergency room.
B. The contractor shall provide patient care as needed and obtain consultant as needed. Patients are often critical and may require immediate decision or are complicated because patient fail to respond to previously tried treatment regimens. Provides primary medical care to patients with wide spectrum of illnesses in the emergency room.
C. The contractor shall provide emergency care on a regular and ongoing basis to patients seen in the emergency room. This includes stabilization and transfer of major trauma (penetrating wounds, hemorrhage, traumatic brain injury, significant blunt trauma etc.). Contractor must be competent in the management, stabilization and transfer of pediatric trauma, pediatric advanced life support, adult cardiac life support, psychiatric emergencies such as suicide, and complex/critical medical conditions (septic shock, cardiopulmonary shock, end stage renal disease etc.). The contractor shall be competent in advanced airway management including endotracheal intubation and Rapid Sequence Intubation
D. The contractor shall serve as a first responder for “codes,” that is, ACLS/PALS administration for patients found in life threatening situations for which the “code blue” activation system has been initiated on the CCHCS campus, including the outpatient departments.
E. The contractor shall make appropriate referrals and obtain appropriate consultations after primary complete evaluation and documentation has been completed.
F. The contractor shall recognize and give initial treatment of acute psychiatric problems.
G. The contractor shall provide consultation and assistance to the Urgent Care midlevel providers, physician assistants or nurse practitioners, assisting them with patient care as needed.
H. The contractor shall provide appropriate documentation on rendered patient care utilizing CCHCF’s EHR system. The contractor is responsible for utilizing the CCHCF EHR system to obtain, dictate, electronically enters and assures preparation of appropriate medical records for all patients seen to assure the accumulation and organization of all pertinent clinical data needed to provide comprehensive medical care. Clinical data reports shall be completed in a timely manner and shall be maintained in compliance with Joint Commission standards. It is the responsibility of the contractor to use the training resources provided by the CCHCF to develop competency in utilizing the EHR system.
I. The contractor shall familiar with the cultural, social, political, geographic, demographic, economic, and epidemiological characteristic of the patients and the communities served. The contractor shall be receptive and respectful of the culture at CSU. Cultural awareness and cultural diversity include language barriers, rural Native lifestyles and native ceremonies. The contractor shall be aware of the basic traditional medicines and ceremonies that are available to patients, from the womb to geriatrics. CSU has traditional providers on staff providing traditional diagnostic care for all patients who seek it. The contractor shall embrace and incorporate these elements into the care of the patients for positive outcomes. The contractor shall complete a mandatory on-line training made available during orientation.
The contractor shall be subject to peer review per Joint Commission standards.
The contractor shall adhere to the Safety management reporting requirements in accordance with CCHCF’s Safety Measure Policy.
The contractor shall be responsible for all applicable Federal, State and Local Taxes, Meals, Travel/Transportation. Lodging is available but must be paid for by the contractor or contract agency. Government quarters are available at prevailing rental rates plus utilities, as applicable, if government quarters are utilized. The contractor shall be responsible and liable for the proper care of government owned or leased property furnished in occupied quarters.
The contractor shall submit a proper invoice as required for payment of services rendered and attach timesheet/work record to verify the hours worked, by uploading to IPP.gov. A certification statement of service rendered will be included with a signature from the designated COR for this contract.

Not had loss of licensure or suspended licensure of ANY medical profession.

Not had a lapse in practice > 6 months leading up to assignment at CCHCF. (MUST
provide phone numbers, contact name and dates of affiliations with all
hospital(s)/clin ic(s) in the 12 months)
A valid unrestricted DEA with Schedule II - V.
Shall not have any history of drug abuse, i.e. alcohol, narcotics, amphetamines, etc.
Working Hours
Regular Shift: 7:00 am to 7:00 pm (Day) or 8:00 am to 8:00 pm (Day), 8:00 pm to 8:00 am (Night), Sunday through Saturday including Holidays, Twelve (12) hours per shift.
Swing Shift: 12:00 pm to 12:00 am or 2:00 pm – 2:00 am, Sunday through Saturday including Holidays, Twelve (12) Hours per shift.
