Position Overview
The organization is seeking an Emergency Medicine Physician who is trained in Emergency Medicine to provide comprehensive emergency care at its regional medical center in Dothan, Alabama.
The physician will evaluate and treat patients presenting with a broad range of acute and emergent medical conditions. The physician will work closely with nurses, advanced practice providers, hospitalists, specialists, trauma teams, and other healthcare professionals to provide timely, high-quality emergency care.
The position offers the opportunity to practice in a regional referral center with access to advanced diagnostic capabilities and multiple medical and surgical specialties.
Essential Responsibilities

Evaluate and manage patients presenting with acute and emergent medical conditions

Perform rapid assessment, stabilization, diagnosis, and treatment of emergency patients

Manage medical, surgical, traumatic, and other acute conditions
-
Provide emergency treatment to patients across a broad range of ages and acuity levels
-
Perform appropriate emergency procedures within the physician's scope of training and practice
-
Order and interpret laboratory testing, imaging, ECGs, and other diagnostic studies

Stabilize critically ill and injured patients
-
Coordinate consultations with appropriate specialists
-
Collaborate with trauma, hospital medicine, surgery, cardiology, neurology, pediatrics, and other specialty teams

Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care
-
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)
-
Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
-
Participate in multidisciplinary care planning
-
Support teaching and mentorship opportunities when applicable
-
Maintain compliance with hospital policies, clinical protocols, and applicable regulatory requirements
Qualifications
Education
-
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
-
Completion of an accredited Emergency Medicine training program
-
Emergency Medicine-trained physicians encouraged to apply
Board Certification & Licensure
-
Board Eligible or Board Certified in Emergency Medicine

Eligible for or currently holding an active Alabama medical license
-
Current DEA registration or eligibility to obtain
-
Current BLS certification required
-
ACLS certification required
-
PALS certification required
-
ATLS certification preferred/required based on hospital requirements
Experience
