Job description

A facility in Illinois needs locum tenens coverage for 40 to 70 hours a month, and the facility will work around your schedule. Overnight shifts are the facility's first choice.

About the Assignment

  • Shifts: You can pick from 8-hour day, evening, or overnight shifts, or 12-hour days or nights.
  • Volume: The emergency department sees between 35,000 and 45,000 visits a year.
  • Credentialing: If you already hold an Illinois license, credentialing takes about six to eight weeks.
  • Requirements: You'll need an unrestricted license and a clean NPDB report.

Location and Lifestyle

Illinois runs from prairie and farmland across the north and center to wooded hills and bluffs in the far south. On your days off, you can camp or picnic at one of Illinois's state parks.

About Interim Physicians

Ken Teufel, MD, founded the company that became Interim Physicians in 1979, a year after selling a solo family practice in small-town Texas to cover for physicians who couldn't get away. Dr. Teufel served as medical director for 42 years and was one of the founding fathers of locum tenens. The standards Dr. Teufel set still decide which physicians Interim presents to a facility.

Interim staff members average 14 years with the company, so the recruiter who places a physician is the same one who calls about the next assignment. Clinicians and facility clients have rated Interim 9 or 10 out of 10 often enough to earn ClearlyRated's Best of Staffing Diamond award.
