We are seeking experienced Emergency Medicine Physicians (MD/DO) to join the medical team at a brand-new, state-of-the-art hospital opening in central west South Dakota.
This is a unique opportunity to practice emergency medicine in a newly designed facility built around a different kind of healthcare experience—combining the clinical resources of a modern emergency hospital with personalized, patient-centered care, shorter wait times, and exceptional service.
With projected Emergency Department volume averaging just under one patient per hour, physicians will have the opportunity to provide thoughtful, high-quality care without the relentless volume commonly associated with traditional emergency departments.
As a member of the opening medical team, you'll also have the opportunity to help establish the culture of a new facility—one built around compassion, teamwork, accountability, clinical excellence, and an outstanding patient experience.
Job Responsibilities
Manage a broad range of emergent, urgent, and acute medical conditions.
Perform emergency procedures and life-saving interventions as clinically indicated.
Provide emergency airway management, including endotracheal intubation.
Perform chest tube placement, procedural sedation, ACLS resuscitation, and other emergency procedures.
Order and interpret laboratory testing, diagnostic imaging, EKGs, and other appropriate studies.
Develop appropriate treatment, admission, discharge, transfer, and follow-up plans.
Respond effectively to critical and rapidly changing patient conditions.
Collaborate with Advanced Practice Providers, nursing staff, ancillary departments, consultants, and hospital leadership.
Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients and families.
Maintain timely, accurate, thorough, and compliant medical documentation.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, Medical Staff activities, and clinical performance programs.
Help establish and maintain the high clinical and service standards of a newly opening hospital.
Qualifications
DEA Registration
South Dakota Controlled Substance Authority
BLS – Basic Life Support
ACLS – Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support
PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support
ATLS – Advanced Trauma Life Support
All hospital-required credentialing and privileging documentation
Working Hours
Swing shifts
PM/Night shifts
Emergency Department coverage based on facility scheduling needs
Projected annual patient volume averages just under one patient per hour
