Job description
We are seeking Board Certified or Board Eligible Emergency Medicine Physicians for ongoing locum coverage for Emergency Departments in Rhode Island. The facilities anticipate credentialing taking 30-60 days and are looking for candidates with clean backgrounds who can provide ongoing ED coverage.
Assignment Details
- Projected Start Date: November 15, 2026
- Ongoing Emergency Medicine coverage
- Coverage available across two hospital Emergency Departments
Schedule
- Physician shifts: 10 hours
- Approximately 30 physician coverage hours per day at each facility
- Utilizes a 3-on/4-off, 4-on/3-off rotation model
- APP coverage provided daily
- Additional on-call APP support available as needed
Practice Setting
- Hospital-based Emergency Medicine
- Combined annual ED volume: approximately 55,000 visits
- Site 1: approximately 33,000 annual ED visits
- Site 2: approximately 22,000 annual ED visits
Patient Volume & Staffing
- Higher-volume location: approximately 85 daily encounters
- Second location: approximately 69 daily encounters
- Each location receives approximately 30 physician coverage hours per day
- Higher-volume location: approximately 16 APP coverage hours daily
- Second location: approximately 8 APP coverage hours daily
- Additional APP coverage can be utilized on an as-needed basis
Requirements
- MD or DO
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine
- Clean professional and credentialing history strongly preferred
- Comfortable working in a hospital-based Emergency Department
- Ability to provide ongoing coverage beginning in November preferred

A BC/BE Emergency Medicine Physician seeking ongoing locum coverage in Rhode Island. Candidates should be comfortable working 10-hour ED shifts in a collaborative physician/APP model and managing the patient volume associated with community Emergency Departments seeing approximately 22,000–33,000 annual visits. Physicians with clean credentialing histories who can begin around the projected November 15 start date are especially encouraged to apply.
