We are seeking a Board-Certified Emergency Medicine Physician for a locum tenens opportunity in the Dallas, Texas area.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced ER physician looking for a lower-volume emergency department with an annual patient volume of approximately 15,000 visits. November coverage is currently needed, and the facility offers an expedited credentialing process of approximately 30 days, allowing qualified physicians to get started quickly.
With manageable patient volume, flexible locum coverage, and convenient access to the Dallas–Fort Worth metro area, this assignment offers an attractive alternative to the pace of a high-volume urban emergency department.
Job Responsibilities
Rapidly assess, evaluate, diagnose, stabilize, and treat patients with a wide variety of acute illnesses and injuries.
Perform appropriate emergency procedures within the physician's scope of practice and facility privileges.
Initiate emergency resuscitation and stabilization for critically ill or injured patients when necessary.
Order and interpret appropriate laboratory testing, imaging, and other diagnostic studies.
Develop appropriate treatment plans based on clinical findings and diagnostic results.
Determine appropriate patient disposition, including discharge, admission, observation, or transfer to a higher level of care.
Coordinate admissions and consultations with hospitalists and specialty physicians as appropriate.
Arrange transfers for patients requiring services or levels of care not available at the facility.
Prescribe medications and provide discharge instructions and appropriate follow-up recommendations.
Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and disposition.
Collaborate effectively with nursing staff, ancillary departments, EMS personnel, and other members of the hospital care team.
Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation in the facility's electronic medical record.
Follow hospital policies, Emergency Department protocols, quality standards, and medical staff bylaws.
Maintain patient safety and quality of care throughout each shift.
Qualifications
Board Certification required
Board certification must meet facility Emergency Medicine credentialing requirements
Active and unrestricted medical license as required by the facility
Current DEA registration as required
Current life-support certifications as required by facility bylaws
Ability to successfully complete medical staff credentialing and privileging

November dates currently available
12-hour shifts
