Job description
An established Emergency Department in Newburgh, New York is seeking Medical Director Emergency Medicine to join a growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a Level III Trauma Center with high-acuity cases, strong specialty support, and opportunities to contribute to the development of a new Emergency Department model.
Job Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive emergency medical care to adult and pediatric patients.
Diagnose and manage acute and complex medical conditions.
Perform appropriate emergency procedures and stabilize critically ill or injured patients.
Collaborate with APPs, nurses, hospitalists, specialists, and other clinical staff to coordinate patient care.
Manage patients requiring admission, transfer, or consultation with specialty services.
Participate in trauma, stroke, STEMI, and other emergency care protocols as appropriate.
Utilize Epic EMR for accurate and timely documentation.
Support quality improvement, patient-flow, and clinical-performance initiatives.
Participate in resident teaching and educational activities when applicable.
Contribute to the development and improvement of the Emergency Department as the new staffing and operational model is implemented.
Qualifications
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine
Active New York medical license
Eligible to practice in New York
Emergency Medicine experience appropriate for a Level III Trauma Center
Comfortable managing high-acuity/trauma patients
Ability to treat both adult and pediatric patients
Strong clinical and communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, APPs, nurses, and specialists
Epic EMR experience preferred/required based on facility expectations
Willingness to participate in teaching/education opportunities is a plus
Working Hours
APP coverage: 37 hours/week
ED coverage: 24/7

Patient volume: ~55,000 annual ED visits
Staffing model: 13 full-time physicians + 9 full-time APPs
Target PPH: Approximately 2.0 after the full staffing model is implemented
