Looking for an Iowa locums opportunity where you can work 12-hour shifts in a low-volume environment—with your airfare, lodging, and rental car covered?
We are seeking an experienced MD/DO for an ongoing ER/Inpatient locums assignment. With an annual volume of approximately 3,100 patients, this opportunity offers a dramatically different pace from a high-volume emergency department while still allowing you to utilize your emergency and inpatient clinical skills.
Both day and night shifts are available, with scheduling opportunities ranging from 12-hour shifts up to 72 hours of coverage.

Job Responsibilities
Evaluate, diagnose, stabilize, and treat patients presenting to the Emergency Department
Manage acute illnesses and injuries within the scope of the facility
Determine appropriate patient disposition, including admission, discharge, or transfer
Provide inpatient physician coverage as required
Respond appropriately to emergent and higher-acuity clinical situations
Order and interpret laboratory studies, imaging, and other diagnostic testing
Develop and implement appropriate treatment plans
Prescribe and manage medications as clinically indicated
Coordinate patient care with nursing, EMS, APP Hospitalist, and other available resources
Arrange transfers to higher levels of care when medically necessary
Maintain timely and accurate documentation in Epic EMR
Provide safe, efficient, independent physician coverage during solo-coverage periods
Qualifications
DEA
CSA
ATLS
ACLS
PALS
MD or DO
Current Iowa medical license
Current DEA registration
Current CSA registration
Emergency Department and inpatient experience appropriate for independent coverage
Comfortable practicing in a solo-coverage environment
Ability to evaluate and stabilize emergency patients independently
Comfortable managing both emergency and inpatient responsibilities
Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills
Comfortable utilizing Epic EMR
Ability to meet all facility credentialing requirements
Working Hours
Night Shift: 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
12-hour shifts
Coverage opportunities up to 72 hours
