Job description CHI Health Mercy Council Bluffs is seeking a board-certified or recently board-eligible Emergency Medicine physician for locum coverage. Council Bluffs, Iowa sits four miles from downtown Omaha — this is Omaha metro, not rural Iowa. Three shift options, 4 to 12 shifts per month, APP support 12 to 20 hours daily, and explicitly low trauma responsibility. $300/hr. Epic EMR. Iowa DEA required.

Job Responsibilities

Routine emergency department duties including codes. Low trauma responsibility — EM locums at this facility do not carry significant trauma obligations. APP coverage 12 to 20 hours daily provides real support. Dragon dictation, no scribes. Annual volume 22,000 with 77% discharge rate. Easy transfer center process.

Qualifications

Board certified or board eligible Emergency Medicine physician. Completion of ACGME or AOA approved EM residency required. Active EM practice within last 12 months or EM residency completion within last 6 months. Iowa DEA, ACLS, BLS, PALS required. Epic experience helpful. No DUIs or license suspensions — dealbreakers. Credentialing 60 days. 48-hour application return window required.

Working Hours

Three shift options: 6:30am-2:30pm, 1:30pm-10:30pm, 9:30pm-6:30am. 4 to 12 shifts per month. $300/hr.
