Job description
The candidate will work as an Emergency Medicine Physician providing medical care to patients who come to the Emergency Department. The physician will evaluate patients, diagnose medical conditions, provide appropriate treatment, and determine whether patients should be discharged, admitted, or transferred to a higher-level trauma facility.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:
Evaluate and treat patients presenting to the Emergency Department with urgent and emergency medical conditions.
Perform patient histories, physical examinations, diagnostic evaluations, and treatment plans.
Manage a broad range of emergency cases, including medical, surgical, and trauma-related conditions depending on the facility.
Order and interpret appropriate laboratory tests, imaging, ECGs, and other diagnostic studies.
Stabilize critically ill or injured patients and provide emergency interventions when required.
Admit, discharge, or transfer patients based on their clinical condition and the resources available at the facility.
Coordinate patient care with specialists and other medical staff when specialty consultation or admission is required.
Work with nurses, advanced practice providers/mid-levels, technicians, and other ED staff as part of the emergency care team.
At applicable sites, perform or participate in floor codes/emergency response situations.
Document patient evaluations, diagnoses, treatments, and disposition accurately in the Meditech EMR.
Follow hospital policies, emergency medicine standards, and appropriate patient-safety and quality-of-care protocols.
Provide care during assigned day, evening, overnight, or 12-hour shifts, depending on the facility.
At trauma-capable locations, participate in the evaluation and stabilization of trauma patients and coordinate transfer when a higher level of trauma care is needed.

What the Candidate Should Be Comfortable With:
The ideal candidate should be comfortable working in a busy Emergency Department, making rapid clinical decisions, managing multiple patients, handling emergencies independently, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals.
The facilities vary in size and patient volume. Some locations see 45,000–61,000+ annual ED visits, while smaller sites see approximately 11,000–22,000 visits annually. Patient volume ranges from about 1.4 to 2.5 patients per hour, depending on the site.
Required/accepted credentials: ABEM, AOBEM, or BEEM certification depending on the specific site, with ATLS certification listed for the opportunities.
