Client is seeking Emergency Medicine physicians for an immediate-start locum tenens opportunity in East Texas.
This position offers flexible shift options at the primary hospital, along with an affiliated freestanding emergency department. Cross-credentialing at the nearby freestanding ED is required.
The opportunity is well suited for an Emergency Medicine physician seeking flexible scheduling, a diverse clinical environment, and the ability to work across both hospital-based and freestanding emergency care settings.
Practice Overview — Client:
Approximately 36,000 annual ED visits
Approximately 2.0 patients per hour
30 hours of physician coverage
20 hours of mid-level coverage
Level III Trauma Center
224 hospital beds
21 ED beds
Comprehensive specialty backup
EMR: MedHost
No scribe coverage
Floor codes required
Shift Schedule:
The primary hospital offers 10-hour shifts:
6:00 AM–4:00 PM
12:00 PM–10:00 PM
8:00 PM–6:00 AM
Flexible shift options are available based on scheduling needs.
Affiliated Freestanding Emergency Department:
Physicians will also provide coverage at a nearby affiliated freestanding ED. Cross-credentialing is required.
The freestanding facility includes:
Approximately 11,000 annual visits
Approximately 1.4 patients per hour
24 hours of physician coverage
No mid-level coverage
No trauma designation
10 ED beds
MedHost EMR
No scribe coverage
No on-site specialty backup
Freestanding ED Shifts:
12–24 hour shifts
The freestanding location provides a lower-volume practice environment while higher-acuity patients can be managed according to established transfer protocols.
Board & Certification Requirements:
ABEM / BEEM Physicians:
ABEM or BEEM
ACLS required
ATLS completed at least once
ABFM / ABIM Physicians:
Emergency Medicine experience required.
Certifications:
ACLS
ATLS
BLS
PALS
