Job description
Client is seeking a Board Certified Emergency Medicine Physician for a locum tenens assignment beginning in September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Emergency Medicine physician looking for a short-term assignment with the potential for ongoing future coverage needs. The emergency department sees an average of approximately 36 patients per day and is supported by experienced ED nursing staff and an APP.

The facility is a Level III Trauma Center and offers a broad range of hospital-based emergency care.

Coverage Details:
Assignment: Locum Tenens Emergency Medicine
Coverage Dates: September 9–11, 2026
Shift: 8:00 AM–8:00 PM
Providers Needed: 1 physician
Reason for Coverage: FMLA / scheduling need
On-site orientation: Required 1 day before the first assigned block
Potential for additional future dates
Emergency Department coverage only
Facility operates 7 days per week

Clinical Environment:
Approximately 36 patients per day
11 ED beds
Approximately 3 admissions per shift
Level III Trauma Center
ED supported by 2–3 RNs and 1 APP
Physicians are required to supervise advanced practice providers
No resident or teaching supervision required
Admissions required
No newborn deliveries received in the ED
Labor & Delivery department on site

EMR & Documentation:
Meditech EMR
Both inpatient and outpatient responsibilities may be involved
Strong documentation and clinical communication skills expected

Physician Requirements:
Emergency Medicine Board Certification required
Board certification must be in Emergency Medicine
Board eligible candidates may be considered if they meet facility requirements, although the assignment specifically identifies Emergency Medicine board certification as required
Active Michigan medical license or IMLC eligibility
Fellowship not required
ACLS, ATLS, BLS, and PALS are not listed as additional requirements for this assignment

Credentialing & Privileges:
Estimated credentialing timeframe: approximately 30 days
Temporary privileges may be available when needed
Providers should be prepared to submit credentialing documents as quickly as possible
Hospital privileges are required
Credentialing and provider approval are coordinated through the facility and Locumsmart

2–3 ED RNs
1 APP
Laboratory services
Radiology
Anesthesia
General Surgery
Orthopedic Surgery
Cardiac catheterization services
Other hospital-based specialty resources

Travel & Lodging:
Nearest airport: CMX – Hancock, Michigan
Facility lodging recommended if available
Travel and insurance arrangements provided according to the assignment terms
