Housing near the hospital is still readily available and generally below national pricing.

Horry County is actively addressing its growth through RIDE 4, a voter-approved 1% transportation sales tax, majority funded by tourism, that began in May 2025.

Planned infrastructure investments include:

  • Major road widening and capacity improvements
  • New intersections and safety upgrades
  • Hundreds of miles of road paving and resurfacing
  • Increased mass-transit funding
  • A proposed new Waccamaw River crossing near Conway
  • Improvements to major routes connecting Conway and the coastal communities

These long-term projects demonstrate that local leaders recognize the challenges of rapid growth and are actively investing in the region’s future.
