Emergency Medicine in New State-of-the-Art ED | Eastern Kentucky Tri-State Region
Job at a glance
Job description
Practice Emergency Medicine in a Department Designed for Emergency Medicine
There is a considerable difference between working in an Emergency Department that has been repeatedly modified over decades and practicing in one designed around the way Emergency Medicine is delivered today.
This opportunity offers the latter.
We are recruiting Emergency Medicine physicians for a 455-bed regional medical center serving the Kentucky-Ohio-West Virginia tri-state region.
The hospital opened its new Emergency Department in June 2025, providing physicians with an unusually modern clinical environment and infrastructure designed specifically around patient flow, diagnostics and contemporary emergency care.
Compensation & Incentives
- $290/hour — Day shifts
- $305/hour — Night shifts
- $50,000 sign-on bonus with a two-year commitment
- Compensation/Employment model allows significant tax benefits!
- Employer paid malpractice and tail coverage
- Just two full-time physician openings left!
An Emergency Department Built for Today's Practice
The new ED includes:
- 86 treatment areas
- More than 60 private treatment rooms
- Two dedicated trauma bays
- Two dedicated Emergency Department CT scanners
- STAT laboratory capabilities
- Provider-in-triage model
- Dedicated behavioral-health treatment space
- Isolation and decontamination capabilities
- Approximately 72 physician coverage hours daily
- Approximately 48 APP coverage hours daily
- Scribe support
Serious Clinical Resources
This is a regional medical center capable of managing significant acuity and complexity.
The hospital offers advanced stroke capabilities, including thrombectomy resources and 24-hour stroke support, along with the specialty infrastructure expected from a major regional referral center.
Just as importantly, the Emergency Department benefits from stable, experienced and long-tenured leadership something that can be difficult to find in today's Emergency Medicine environment.
Choose How You Want to Live
The tri-state location creates several different lifestyle options.
Physicians can choose a beautiful Kentucky community, live across the river in the greater Huntington area, or take advantage of the broader Ohio River region.
For those who want access to larger cities without living in one every day, Lexington, Columbus and Cincinnati are all within regional reach.
Housing remains considerably more affordable than many of the country's most competitive Emergency Medicine markets, while the surrounding region provides mountains, rivers, hiking, boating and outdoor recreation.
Modern facility. Strong coverage. Significant specialty resources. Competitive compensation.
If you've been considering a change, this is one of those opportunities that is difficult to evaluate from a job posting alone.
I'd welcome the opportunity to walk you through the department, schedule and compensation confidentially.
