Emergency Medicine | Three-Hospital Regional Leadership Opportunity in Eastern Kentucky
Core Clinical Partners is seeking an experienced Emergency Medicine physician to serve as Regional Medical Director for the Kentucky River Region of Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH). This leadership position provides oversight of Emergency Medicine services across Hazard ARH Regional Medical Center, Whitesburg ARH Hospital, and Mary Breckinridge ARH Hospital, serving communities throughout Eastern Kentucky. These facilities collectively account for approximately 43,000 annual emergency department visits and offer the opportunity to influence clinical operations, clinician engagement, quality initiatives, and program growth across a defined regional network.
This hybrid clinical and leadership role is ideal for a physician who enjoys working collaboratively with clinicians, hospital leadership, nursing leadership, and operational teams to strengthen clinical performance, improve patient care, and support the continued success of Emergency Medicine services throughout the region.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide physician leadership across the Kentucky River Region
- Foster clinician engagement, professional development, and retention
- Support clinician recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, and mentoring efforts
- Partner with hospital and nursing leadership to promote operational excellence
- Lead quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
- Support performance improvement efforts and clinical best practices across the region
- Participate in departmental, medical staff, and hospital leadership meetings
- Assist with clinician scheduling oversight and workforce planning
- Serve as a liaison between clinicians, hospital leadership, and Core Clinical Partners
- Collaborate with site medical directors and operational leadership to ensure consistency across facilities

- Approximately 24,000 annual ED visits
- Level IV Trauma Center
- Comprehensive Stroke Center
- 24-hour physician coverage
- 20-hour APP coverage
Whitesburg ARH Hospital
- Approximately 14,000 annual ED visits
- Level IV Trauma Center
- 24-hour physician coverage
- 10-hour APP coverage
Mary Breckinridge ARH Hospital
- Approximately 5,000 annual ED visits
- Critical Access Hospital
- Acute Stroke Ready designation
- 24-hour coverage model
Qualifications
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Family Medicine
- Current or eligible Kentucky medical license
- Previous Emergency Medicine leadership experience required
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Demonstrated commitment to quality, patient safety, and operational excellence
